We can now offer our guests on campus even more thanks to a new service: Guest@UofA.
This free wireless network service allows anyone without a CCID on campus to connect to the internet. This service allows simple web surfing (http:// and https://) over standard TCP/IP ports 80 and 443, and common VPN clients will also work.
How To Connect:
1. Select "Guest@UofA" from the list of available networks. 2. Agree to the Conditions of Use. 3. Enjoy browsing around!
Please note that this service will not replace UWS for those individuals with CCIDs, as Guest@UofA has many restrictions. A comparison can be seen below (click on image for enlarged view):
While limited, Guest@UofA is still significant in that it will enable our visitors to interact on the net. The network is perfect for:
- Checking email on the go
- Updating social media sites
- Simply browsing around the internet
- Conferences held at the University where many people may like to keep connected
Access to Guest@UofA is free, but is only granted to those who have read and agreed to our Conditions of Use.
If questions or concerns arise, the AICT Help Desk will be the place to go for answers as they will be supporting Guest@UofA. To contact them, call 780-492-9400, or e-mail
